Peter Banks

Peter Banks is a past president of both the British and International Associations of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Over the past 10 years he has developed an exclusively medicolegal practice based on extensive experience in all aspects of facial trauma and disease. He originally qualified in both dentistry and medicine at Guy's Hospital. After postgraduate training at the Eastman Dental Institute and at the maxillofacial centre at the Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead he was appointed as a consultant in Cambridge. In 1972 he returned to East Grinstead as a consultant with a special interest in facial trauma and deformity. Apart from his UK experience he has travelled widely serving for a time in a war situation from which his experience in gunshot wounds is reflected in a number of publications. He has been a member of the Council of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and also the board of the Faculty of Dental Surgery. He is an honorary consultant to the Royal Air Force.

He started his medico-legal practice in 1980 and it became a special interest in 1999 when he was invited to become a Member of the Advisory Board of the St.Paul International Insurance Company. He currently writes over 100 reports annually dealing with personal injury and medical negligence.
